The weather is warming which can only mean one thing: Summer is near! We are in high gear preparing for campers, and preparing the resident staff who will serve them!

The power of camp is transformational. Kids grow up knowing about God, but camp helps them know God, personally. This transformation lends itself to the camp as well. Many of our resident staff were campers, then cabin leaders, before coming on board for the summer.

I recently received a note from one such camper who served on resident staff. His name is Parker Aerts, and he was one of our Psalm68five mentors last year.

“As a camper… Camp is the place where I decided to give my life to the Lord and join the family of Christ! This is holy ground where friends and followers from all over the state come together each year to praise and worship our Heavenly Father. This place will always be very special to me because the experiences here cannot be matched anywhere else on Earth.”

“As a mentor… Joining the resident staff at Higher Ground (at Lake Louise) really opened my perspective of this holy place. The hard-work, dedication, and passion from staff and volunteers that goes into making a summer here successful and enjoyable for campers is real! We serve a Living God and our desire is to lead campers to Him through faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”

What a blessing to have the perspective of both camper and staffer. Not surprisingly, his story is not the exception but tends to be the rule. Not every camper will serve on staff, but most staff have been
campers.

The Christian Camp and Conference Association knows this power well. The CCCA surmised: “At camp, young people have the mental room to consider some of the most important issues of life. This break from the craziness of their regular routine allows campers to think about their future, to evaluate unhealthy patterns, and to discover the truth that God loves them and has an amazing plan for their lives.” This environment includes: “nature and discover, temporary community, lifelong friendships and adult mentors.”

As we prepare for a transformational summer, we encourage you to consider one of our many camps!
We have a new schedule so please be sure to check it out. Your registration is fully refundable should
you need to cancel it.

We know the power of camp. We know the power of God. We can’t wait to know you!
