Kaylene Whitaker serves as the Refugee Site Supervisor for Bethany Christian Services in Traverse City. She loves the opportunity to support and welcome refugee and immigrant families to the Traverse City area. Prior to serving at Bethany, Kaylene worked at a camp as the marketing manager and in church communications. Kaylene received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Cedarville University and her master’s degree in counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary. As a teen, attending camp was the highlight of each summer for Kaylene, and it was always a place of growth and belonging. She joined the board of Higher Ground at Lake Louise in 2021 and is excited to be a part of helping Higher Ground be a place of growth and belonging for kids and families. Kaylene lives in Traverse City, Michigan, and spends her free time outside in the rain, sun, or snow exploring the beauty of Northern Michigan.
