Board Member

After more than 20 years as a partner at Bursma Electronics Distributing, God, in His kindness, created a position on staff at Faith Reformed Church in Traverse City, Michigan. This marked a wonderful period of learning and growth as we embraced a new commitment to becoming an externally focused church. Presently, we engage with the homeless, provide weekly meals to members of our community, partner with Keys to Freedom Ministries (Jail Ministry), Love Thy Neighbor, Single Mom Ministry, and more. This made joining the board of Higher Ground an easy transition for me. Randy has been married to his wife Joan for 50 years and has three grown sons, three lovely daughters-in-law, and five of the finest grandkids (directly from Garrison Keillor’s Lake Wobegon, of course) who keep him energized and hopeful for the future. He retired in 2019 and, in retirement, enjoys golf with good friends, working in the homeless community and community meals, serving at church, and most importantly, having more time with family. Oh yeah, I occasionally watch a ballgame or two. Sorry, Joan. He looks forward to what God has in store, not only for himself and his family but also for Higher Ground Camp. It seems as though some things are stirring.
