Ken VanTuinen

Board Member

Kenneth J. Van Tuinen is Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Advisors of West Michigan Uniform, Inc. Ken had served as CEO of West Michigan Uniform Inc from 1985 to 2010. Ken has worked for West Michigan Uniform, Inc. full-time since 1974 and part-time from 1963 to 1974 in various capacities but mainly in administration, finance, strategic planning, and operations. Ken was born in 1952 in Grand Rapids Michigan and moved to Holland in 1963 when his Dad purchased what was then called West Michigan Laundry and Dry Cleaners. Ken graduated from Ferris State University summa cum laude in June of 1974 with a B.S. degree in Accounting. The excitement of being in business, the challenges of leadership, the opportunity to work with his Dad and brother and eventually his nephews and son, and his desire to be an entrepreneur were fundamental reasons for Ken remaining a part of West Michigan Uniform, Inc. Now his passion is to see that those who follow him make the organization even more successful and that they sustain the values that the company was founded upon- excellence, integrity, and honesty. Ken enjoys spending time with Jean, his wife of 40 years, and his family. They have three married children-one son and two daughters and 12 grandchildren. His hobbies include golfing, hiking, and reading. His desire is to be guided by God so he can finish the Christian life strong and to be a guide to others so they may finish the Christian life strong. This passion is one of the reasons that he serves on the Board of Higher Ground at Lake Louise.
